Birmingham Üniversitesi Mingana Koleksiyonu’nda Bulunan Türkçe Bir İlmihal Kitabı (Metin, Çeviri, Sözlük, Tıpkıbasım)

Abstract

Müslümanların dini bilgi ve uygulama bakımından ihtiyaç duyduğu, bir bakıma Müslüman olmanın ve Müslümanlığın icaplarını yerine getirmenin ön şartı durumundaki temel bilgileri anlatan ilmihal kitapları, Türkler İslamiyet’i kabul edip İslam çerçevesine girdikten sonra Türk dilinin çeşitli kollarında oldukça sık rastlanan eserlerdir. Batı Türkçesinde ve Doğu Türkçesinde sıklıkla rastlanan bu tür kitaplar, genel olarak Kur’an-ı Kerim’le kıyas, fıkhi ve itikadi yönden değerlendirme ve yeniden yorumlama şeklindedir. Birmingham Üniversitesi’nde yer alan Mingana Koleksiyonu, yirmiden fazla dilde yazılan üç binden fazla eserden oluşmaktadır. Bu koleksiyonun içinde yer alan Türkçe bir ilmihal kitabı, Türk coğrafyasında yazılan diğer ilmihal kitaplarına örnek teşkil etmektedir. Bu tez çalışmasında; Birmingham Üniversitesi Mingana Koleksiyonu’nda bulunan yazma eser; metin okuma, çeviri ve sözlük çalışması vb. yöntemler kullanılmıştır. Arap harfli Türkçe bir ilmihal kitabı olan eserin dil özelliklerinin incelenmesiyle dönemin diğer metinleriyle ya da diğer dönemlere ait benzer konulu metinlerle yapılacak olan karşılaştırmalara malzeme sunulacak ve muhtemel fikirlerin geliştirilmesine yardımcı olunacaktır.

Muslim catechism books, which describe the basic information that Muslims need in terms of religious knowledge and practice, and which is in a way of prerequisite for being a Muslim and fulfilling the requirements of being a Muslim, are very common works in various branches of the Turkish language after the Turks accepted Islam and entered the Islamic framework. Such books, which are frequently encountered in Western Turkish and Eastern Turkish, are generally in the form of comparison with the Qur'an, evaluation and reinterpretation in terms of jurisprudence and creed. The Mingana Collection at the Birmingham University consists of more than three thousand works written in more than twenty languages. In this collection, a Turkish catechism book sets an example for other catechism books written in Turkish geography. In this thesis, manuscript from Birmingham University Mingana Collection has been used and examined in terms of language with methods such as text reading, translation and vocabulary. By examining the linguistic features of this Turkish catechism book with Arabic letters, it will provide material for comparisons with other texts of the period or texts with similar themes from other periods and help to develop possible ideas.
