Podcast Kullanılarak Akıcı Okuma Becerilerinin Geliştirilmesine Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı ilkokul 2. Sınıfa devam eden ve akıcı okuma sorunu olan bir öğrencinin akıcı okuma becerilerini geliştirmede podcastlerin etkisinin incelenmesidir. Podcastler, mevcut ses kayıtlarının dinlenmesi veya bireylerin kendi seslerini kaydetmesi yoluyla kullanılan dijital araçlardır. Bu dijital uygulamalar okuma becerilerinin gelişiminde özellikle akıcı okuma becerilerinde kullanılabilecek etkili araçlardır. Araştırma nicel araştırma modellerinden deneysel tek denekli desen ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan öğrenci 2020-2021 eğitim öğretim döneminde Ordu ilinde bir ilkokulun 2. sınıfında öğrenim görmektedir. Bu öğrencinin seçiminde ölçüt olarak ses farkındalığında ve akıcı okumada sorunlar yaşaması dikkate alınmıştır. Araştırmacı tarafından akıcı okuma becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde kullanılabilecek yöntemler incelenmiş bu yöntemler arasından podcastlerin dahil edildiği akıcı okumayı geliştirmeye yönelik bir öğretim programı oluşturulmuştur. Veri toplama sürecinde akıcı okuma becerilerinin geliştirilmesi amacıyla 10 hafta süreyle toplamda 30 saat olmak üzere hikâye edici ve bilgilendirici metinler aracılığıyla podcastler kullanılarak uygulamalar yapılmıştır. Öğrencinin okumaları ses kayıt cihazıyla kaydedilmiş ve okumakta zorlandığı kelimeler belirlenmiştir. Uygulama sürecinde ilk olarak öğretmen kendi podcastini oluşturmuş, daha sonra öğrencinin bağımsız podcast oluşturmasına fırsat tanınmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda podcastlerin akıcı okuma bileşenlerine (doğru okuma, okuma hızı, prozodik okuma) olumlu yönde katkı sağladığı görülmüştür. Podcastler, bu bileşenler arasında en fazla prozodik okuma becerilerine olumlu yönde etki etmiştir.

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of podcasts on improving fluent reading skills of a student who attends 2nd grade in primary school and has fluent reading problems. Podcasts are digital tools used by listening to existing audio recordings or by individuals recording their own voices. These digital applications are effective tools that can be used in the development of reading skills, especially in fluent reading skills. The research was carried out with an experimental single-subject design, one of the quantitative research models. The student participating in the research is studying in the second grade of a primary school in Ordu in the 2020-2021 academic year. Problems in sound awareness and fluent reading were taken into consideration as a criterion in the selection of this student. The methods that can be used in the development of fluent reading skills were examined by the researcher, and among these methods, a curriculum was created to improve fluent reading in which podcasts were included. In order to improve fluent reading skills in the data collection process, applications were made using podcasts through narrative and informative texts for a total of 30 hours for 10 weeks. The student's readings were recorded with a voice recorder and the words that he had difficulty in reading were determined. In the implementation process, the teacher first created his own podcast, then the student was given the opportunity to create an independent podcast. As a result of the research, it was seen that podcasts contributed positively to fluent reading components (correct reading, reading speed, prosodic reading). Podcasts had the most positive effect on prosodic reading skills among these components.
