Geçen yüzyıldan beri Türk tarihçiliğinde Moğollar üzerine yapılan
çalışmalar tarihî zemininden uzaklaştırılarak siyasî bir zemine taşınmıştır.
Tanzimat döneminden Cumhuriyet’in 1960’lı yıllarına kadar olan süreçte özellikle
Cengiz Han ve Moğol akınları pek çok tartışmanın yaşanmasına sebep olmuştur.
Bu problematik dönemsel olarak farklı yaklaşımlarla değerlendirmeye alınmıştır.
Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemi tarihyazımı ve tarih anlayışlarını bağlamında
başlangıçta Tanzimat ve II. Meşrutiyet dönemleri tarih anlayışlarında Cengiz Han
ve Moğolların bir sorunsal olarak ortaya çıktığı görülmektedir. Özellikle II.
Meşrutiyet’in ilanından sonra Osmanlıcılık, İslamcılık ve Türkçülük anlayışına
sahip aydınlar tarafından bu konu oldukça fazla işlenmiştir. Bu konuda Türkçü
aydınlar tarafından bütün Türkleri birleştiren bir hükümdar olarak tasvir edilen
Cengiz Han, Türkçü tarih anlayışının kadrosuna dâhil edilmiştir. Osmanlıcı ve
İslamcı düşünürlerin Türkçülük ideolojisine karşı muhalif görüşlerinin tarihe bakış
noktasında Cengiz Han ve Moğolların “fenalıkları” üzerine inşa edildiği
söylenebilir. Bu dönemde bilimsellikten ziyade siyasî ve romantik bir tarih anlayışı
söz konusu olmuştur. Cumhuriyet döneminde bilimsel metotlar dâhilinde
araştırılmaya başlanan Cengiz Han ve Moğollar konusunda siyasî dozu az olmakla
birlikte ilmî tartışmalar yaşanmaya devam etmiştir. Bu çalışmada söz konusu
sorunsal tarihsel izlekte tarafların beyanları çerçevesinde ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır.
The studies that has been doing on Mongols in Turkish historiography since
last century has been moved to a political basis by detracting from historical basis.
During the period from Tanzimat Reform Era to the 1960s of the Republic,
especially Cenghis Khan and Mongol raids caused so many discussions. This
problem has been received for consideration periodically with different approaches.
In the context of Ottoman and Republic Period historiography and conception of
history, it is seen that; Tanzimat and II. Constitutional Periods’ conception of
history, Cenghis Khan and Mongols were showed up as a problem. Especially after
the proclamation of II. Constitutional Period, this topic was discussed pretty much
by intellectuals who had the sense of Ottomanism, Pan-Islamism and Turkism. On
this subject, Cenghis Khan was chosen up Turkist conception of history who was
defined as an emperor that reunited all of the Turks by Turkist intellectuals. In the
relation to history, Ottomanist and Islamist philosophers’ dissenter opinions against
Turkism ideology, it can be said that Turkish history has been built on ‘’Evils’’ of
Cenghis Khan and Mongols. In this period, political and romantic conception of
history was in question rather than scientificness. During the Republic Period,
associated with a little political dose, scientific discussions were continued to live
about Cenghis Khan and Mongols topic that was started to research within scientific
methods. This study has been tried to handle as a part of parties’ declarations on the
topic of problematic historical theme
