Abstract:
This study was carried out to determine the effect of fertilization methods as broadcasting and banding, applying five different 'Ormin K' fertilizer doses in the 'Tombul' hazelnut cultivar throughout 2001 and 2002 in Ordu province (Turkey). Results revealed that there were significant differences between years and doses with respect to characteristics including nut weight, nut size, kernel weight, kernel size, kernel percent and some other kernel quality traits. No significant difference was found between fertilization methods regarding nut and kernel weights and kernel percent traits. Overall assessments of a number of factors and combinations indicated that a 2.0 kg dose of 'Ormin K' increased the nut weight by 12.78%, kernel weight by 28.92%, kernel percent by 8.28%, and good kernel by 18.30% compared with the control.
