dc.description.abstract The phytohormone, methyl jasmonate (MeJA) is an important signalling molecule that plays a vital role in regulating plant defense responses as well as antioxidant systems. This is widely studied for postharvest benefits, demonstrating induced plant resistance to various storage stresses (biotic and abiotic). This also influences the production of secondarymetabolites and enhances of antioxidant potential. Themode of action and postharvest application of MeJA is still a major area for research. This chapter summarises the contribution ofMeJA on ameliorating postharvest quality of fruits with special reference to chilling injury and disease resistance. en_US
