Bu araştırmada, Yalova iline kayıtlı balıkçı tekneleri ile avcılık yapan balıkçıların sosyo-ekonomik durumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Balıkçılar ile yüz yüze görüşme metoduyla yapılan ankette yer alan sorulara balıkçıların vermiş oldukları cevaplar ve resmi kurumlardan alınan av istatistikleri analiz edilerek sosyo-ekonomik yapı belirlenmiştir.
Araştırmada, balıkçıların %80’i balıkçılığı zorunluluktan, %18’ini baba mesleği olduğu için, %2’si de deniz tutkusu nedeniyle yaptığını ifade etmiştir. Avcılıkta kullanılan teknelerin %87’sinin 12 m’den küçük ve %91’inin ahşap tekne olduğu belirlenmiştir. Balıkçılar arasında hiç bayan bulunmaz iken, sadece %8’inin yaşı 30’un altındadır. Eğitim seviyesi bakımındaninceendiğinde, %75’inin lise mezunu olduğu, üniversite mezunu balıkçının ise olmadığı anlaşılmıştır. Balıkçıların sadece %1’i gelirinden memnun iken, %70’i getirisinin düşüklüğü nedeniyle gelecekte balıkçılığı bırakmak istediğini belirtmiştir. Gelirlerinin yetersizliği nedeniyle balıkçıların %92’si başka ikinci bir iş yaptıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Avlanan balıkların daha çok komisyoncular vasıtasıyla pazarladıkları anlaşılmıştır.,In this research, it was aimed to determine the socio-economic status of fishermen who caught with fishermen boats registered to Yalova province. Socio-economic structure was determined by analyzing the answers given by the fishermen to the questions on face-to-face interviews with fishermen and the catch statistics obtained from official institutions.
In the survey, 80% of the fishermen stated that they were obliged, 18% were the father's profession, and 2% were fishing due to sea passion. It is determined that 87% of the boats used in hunting are smaller than 12 m and 91% of them are wooden boats. None of the fishermen are female, only 8% of them are under age 30. In terms of education level, there is no university graduate fisherman, 75% of whom are high school graduates. Only 1% of fishermen expressed satisfaction with their income, and 70% said they wanted to fish in the future because of the low yield. They stated that 92% of fishermen had another second job due to income failure. It is understood that hunted fish are marketed mostly through commissioners.
