Green Screen (Chroma Key) Uygulamasının 6. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Fen Bilimleri Dersi Akademik Başarılarına ve Derse Yönelik Tutumlarına Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, Green Screen (Chroma Key) uygulamasının 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin Fen Bilimleri dersi akademik başarılarına ve derse yönelik tutumlarına etkisi incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel araştırmanın bir arada kullanıldığı ön test- son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Nicel veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen ve güvenirliği 0.89 olarak ölçülen başarı testi, açık uçlu sorular ve Nuhoğlu (2008) tarafından geliştirilen tutum ölçeği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Nitel veri kısmında ise araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Araştırma, 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ordu ili Fatsa ilçesinde bulunan Mehmet Akif Ersoy Ortaokulunda 6. sınıfta öğrenim gören öğrencilerle gerçekleştirilmiştir. 6. sınıfa devam eden öğrencilerden deney grubu 26 öğrenci ve kontrol grubu 26 öğrenciden oluşmakta olup çalışma toplam 52 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır. Uygulama, Fen Bilimleri dersi öğretim programına göre 5 hafta (20 ders saati) sürmüştür. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen nicel verilerin analizleri SPSS 22.0 programı kullanılarak yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizi yapılmadan önce normallik testine bakılmış ve verilerin normal dağılım göstermediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sebeple analizlerde parametrik olmayan testler kullanılmıştır. Nitel veri analizinde, deney grubu öğrencileriyle yapılan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme sorularından elde edilen sonuçlarda içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Analizlerin sonuçları çizelge şeklinde sunulmuş ve sonuçları çizelge tablolarına göre yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, Green Screen uygulamasının kullanıldığı deney grubu öğrencilerinin başarı, tutum ve açık uçlu soru puanlarına bakıldığında kontrol grubu öğrencilerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılaşmanın gerçekleştiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme sorularının analizine göre, görüşme yapılan deney grubundan 10 öğrencinin yüksek oranda “Güneş Sistemi ve Tutulmalar” ünitesine ilişkin görüşlerinin doğru olduğu ve Green Screen uygulamasına yönelik olumlu yönde görüşlerinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu sonuçlara göre, Green Screen (Chroma Key) uygulamasının ders öğretiminde ve ders dışı öğrenmede tekrar amacıyla kullanılabileceği yorumu yapılabilir.

This study aims to explore the effects of Green Screen (Chroma Key) application on the academic success in and attitude towards the science course in 6th grade students. This study was designed as quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group, in which quantitative and qualitative research were used together. Quantitative data were obtained using the success scale, developed by the researcher, with a reliability of 0.89, open ended questions, and the attitude scale developed by Nuhoglu (2008). Qualitative data were obtained by using a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. The study was conducted with 6th grade students at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Middle School in the Fatsa district of the city of Ordu during the 2020-2021 academic year. The study was conducted with a total of 52 students enrolled in 6th grade consisting of 26 students in the experiment group and 26 students in the control group. The implementation continued for 5 weeks (20 class hours) according to the Science curriculum. The quantitative data obtained in the study were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 program. A normality test was performed prior to the data analysis and the results showed that the data had a normal distribution. Thus, non-parametric tests were used in the analyses. In analyzing the qualitative data which were obtained from the experiment group students using semi-structured interviews, a content analysis method was used. The results of the analyses were tabulated and interpreted accordingly. When the scores of success, attitude, and open-ended questions of the students in the experimental group, in which the Green Screen application was used, were examined, a statistically significant difference was found compared to the control group students. Additionally, the analysis results of the semi-structured interview questions showed that 10 students in the experiment group who were interviewed had a higher level of views on the "Solar System and Eclipses" unit and had positive views on the Green Screen application. These results can be interpreted as Green Screen (Chroma Key) application can be used for repetition purposes in classroom teaching and extracurricular learning.
