Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul matematik öğretmenlerinin, öğrencilerin
cebirdeki muhtemel kavram yanılgılarını öngörme ve giderme süreçlerinin
incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden ve durum çalışması
yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırma Ordu iline bağlı devlet okullarında görev
yapmakta olan 3 matematik öğretmeni ve aynı okulların 8. sınıf şubelerinde öğrenim
görmekte olan 10 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Katılımcı öğretmenlerin tespitinde
amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden tipik durum örneklemesi, katılımcı öğrencilerin
tespitinde ise ölçüt örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Katılımcı öğrencilerin
tespitinde kullanılan ölçütler veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılan teşhis testinde yer
alan sorulara beklenen yanıtları vermek ve 8. sınıf seviyesinde öğrenim görüyor
olmaktır.
Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Cebirsel Yanılgılar Öngörü Testi
(CYÖT), Cebirsel Yanılgılar Teşhiş Testi (CYTT), Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşmeler
(YYG), Kavram Yanılgılarını Öngörmeye Yönelik Değerlendirme Çerçevesi ve
Kavram Yanılgılarını Gidermeye Yönelik Değerlendirme Çerçevesi kullanılmıştır.
Araştırma kapsamında kullanılan CYÖT’den elde edilen veriler öncelikle içerik
analizine tabi tutulmuş ve elde edilen verilere uygun kategoriler oluşturularak veri
analizi süreci bu kategoriler altında yapılan kodlamalara bağlı olarak yürütülmüştür.
YYG’lerden elde edilen verilerin analizinde ise araştırmacılar tarafından yapılan
tümevarımsal kodlamalar sonucu belirlenen kuramsal çerçeve kullanılmıştır.
Araştırma sonucunda öğretmenlerin, öğrencilerdeki muhtemel kavram yanılgılarını
genel olarak öngörebildikleri fakat giderme noktasında daha düşük performanslar
sergiledikleri gözlenmiştir.
The aim of this research is to examine the processes of secondary school
mathematics teachers to predict and eliminate students' possible misconceptions in
algebra. Qualitative research designs and case study method were used in the
research. The research was carried out with 3 mathematics teachers working in
public schools in Ordu and 10 students studying in the 8th grade branches of the
same schools. Typical case sampling, one of the purposive sampling methods, was
used in the determination of the participant teachers, and criterion sampling method
was used in the determination of the participant students. The criteria used to
determine the participant students are to give the expected answers to the questions
in the diagnostic test used as a data collection tool and to be studying at the 8th grade
level.
Algebraic Misconceptions Prediction Test (AMPT), Algebraic
Misconceptions Diagnostic Test (AMDT), Semi-Structured Interviews (SSI),
Evaluation Framework for Prediction of Misconceptions and Evaluation Framework
for Elimination of Misconceptions were used as data collection tools in the study.
The data obtained from the AMPT were subjected to content analysis first and the
appropriate categories were created for the data obtained, and the data analysis
process was carried out depending on the coding made under these categories. The
theoretical framework determined because of the inductive coding carried out by the
researchers was used in the analysis of the data obtained from the SSIs. As a result of
the research, it was observed that the teachers were able to predict the possible
misconceptions in the students in general but showed lower performances in
eliminating them.
