Boyana Nehri ve İşkodra Gölü, tarihin her döneminde bulunduğu bölge için önemli bir yer
olarak görülmüşlerdir. XIV. yüzyıldan itibaren bölge Osmanlı‟nın kontrolüne girmiştir. Nehir
ve göl, 1877-78 Osmanlı-Rus savaşı sonrasında imzalanan Berlin Antlaşması‟na kadar
Osmanlı Devleti‟nin hâkimiyetinde olan sulardı. Boyana Nehri ve İşkodra Gölü, Osmanlı
Devleti ile Berlin Antlaşması‟ndan sonra bağımsız devlet olarak ortaya çıkan Karadağ
arasında sınır teşkil etmeye başlamıĢtır. Bundan sonra nehir ve gölde, Osmanlı ile Karadağ
arasında birçok konuda rekabet başlamış ve çeşitli sorunlar ortaya çıkmıştır. İki devlet
arasında nehir ve göldeki sınır, seyrüsefer, kaçakçılık, ticaret, arazi konularında ortaya çıkan
problemler çözülmeye çalışılmıştır.
Osmanlı ile Karadağ arasındaki en önemli meselelerden birisi Boyana Nehri‟nin temizliği
konusudur. Boyana Nehri yatağının dolması sebebiyle sularını Boyana‟ya akıtmakta olan
Bojana River and Skadar Lake were regarded as an important places at each period of the
history. That region,was occupied by the Ottoman Empire in XIVth century. The lake and The
river were dominated by the Ottoman Empire until the treaty of Berlin which was signed
after The War Russian-Ottoman in 1877-1878. The Bojana River and The Skadar Lake
became border between Ottoman and Montenegro where became independent after the treaty
of Berlin. After that ,lots of competition started between Ottoman and Montenegro.. These
problems were the border, smuggling, trading etc. which were attempted to resolve.
The cleaning of the Bojana River was one of the most important problem between The
Ottoman Empire and The Montenegro .Water of The Bojana River flowed into The Skadar
Lake and around The Lake flooded when it was rain.After the rain, it was swamp around the
lake so it was necessary to clen-up. The Skadar Lake would became farmland with cleaning
the environment of the lake . Because Montenegro had a large part of The Lake, it had been
given importance to clean-up these areas.The Ottoman didn‟t lean towards this issue.
Cleaning the environment of Skadar Lake had been subject to a lot of correspondence but
it could not have a conclusion in many years. Also, The Ottoman Empire and The
Montenegro State had been competition in the trade around The Skadar Lake and Bojana
River.Montenegrin State h aimed to be more effective on The Lake and The River so, it
cooperated with the governments of Austria,Italy etc.The Ottoman Empire was suffering
from this collaboration because it did not want to see The Strong Europen States on this
region.
That thesis is about the Otttoman Empire‟s economic,social and political activities in The
Bojana River and Skadar Lake . I hope this thesis will contribute to a better understanding of
the region‟s history.
