Abstract: Bu çalışmada, örtücü bitki uygulamalarının kivi bahçelerinde sorun olan yabancı otların kontrolü üzerindeki etkinliği araştırılmıştır. In this study, the effectiveness of cover crop applications in the control of weeds, which are problematic in kiwi orchards, was investigated. In the study carried out in two different kiwi orchards (Young– 6 years old and Old-13 years old Garden) Vicia sativa L. (common vetch), Vicia sativa L. (Common vetch) + Hordeum vulgare L. (Barley), Vicia villosa Roth. (Hairy vetch), Vicia villosa Roth. (hairy vetch) + Hordeum vulgare L. (barley) four different cover crop applications were performed. Untreated parcel was used for control. In the experiment, according to the results of the three counts, effects of the application coverage (%), density (plant/m2 ), wet and dry weights (g/m2 ), shading ratio (%), (plant/m2 ) of cover plants and coverage (%), density (plant/m2 ), wet and dry weight (g/m2 ) of weeds were determined. During the trial, a total of 14 weed species were identified, 13 of which were in the Young Garden and Old Garden. The most important weed species are Bromus tectorum L., Geranium dissectum L., Lamium purpureum L., Lolium perenne L., Rumex crispus L. İn Young Garden. The most important weed species are L. purpureum, L. perenne, R. crispus, Fragaria vesca L. and Veronica hederifolia L. in the Old Garden. In the young garden, the values of cover crop coverage was V. sativa 62.91 %, V. sativa + H. vulgare 66.41 %, V. villosa 66.41 %, V. villosa + H. vulgare 66.41 % and the weed coverage values was V. sativa 15.91 %, V. sativa + H. vulgare 23.79 %, V. villosa 12.04 %, V. villosa + H. vulgare 22.08 % and Control 47.33 %. In the Old Garden, the values of the cover plant coverage was V. sativa 52.83 %, V. sativa + H. vulgare 67.33 %, V. villosa 54.00 %, V. villosa + H. vulgare 58.66 % and the values of weed coverage area was V. sativa 29.08 %, V. sativa + H. vulgare 20.79 %, V. villosa 32.41 %, V. villosa + H. vulgare 23.76 %, Control 62.93 %. As a result, cover crop applications have been effective on weed control in kiwi orchards.
