Abstract: Bu çalışmada Keçiören (Ankara) ilçesindeki balık satış işletmelerinin sosyoekonomik durumu incelenmiştir. This study examines socio-economic status of fish sales businesses in Keçiören (Ankara) District. The thesis was conducted on 27 fish sales businesses that are registered with Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and still active in February, March and April, 2018. The fishes offered for sale in the businesses differ during the fishing seasons and close seasons. The age range of the operators was between 30-69 and it was observed that their education level is low. 33% of them were primary school graduates, 26%were secondary school graduates, 41%were high school graduates but there were no college graduates. It was found that fishermen had social security and 48%had their own houses. As a result of the evaluations, the reason of fishermen for choosing this profession was found to be contributing to the family budget. This indicated that fishermen who are financially inadequate make this choice because of necessity rather than acquiring a profession
