Abstract: Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul 6. sınıfta okutulan kuvvet ve hareket ünitesinde fen bilgisi öğretim programı ve fen bilgisi öğretim programına entegre edilerek geliştirilen GEMS (Great Exploration in Math and Science) Fen ve Matematik Programının öğrencilerin temel bilimsel süreç becerilerine, tutumlarına olan etkisini araştırmak ve gems programıyla ilgili görüşlerini almaktır. Deney grubu öğrencileriyle yapılan görüşmeden elde edilen sonuçlarda ise öğrencilerin eğlenerek, yaşayarak, gözlemleyerek bilgi ve genel becerileri açısından birçok kazanıma ulaştıklarını bildirmektedirler.,The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of GEMS (Great Exploration in Math and Science) Science and Mathematics Program on students basic scientific process skills and attitudes in the 6th grade elementary school force, the effects of the program and to get their opinions. The study, which was designed with an experimental research approach. It was conducted for 4 weeks and 16 hours in the fall semester of 2017-2018 academic year in a secondary school located in Altınordu, Ordu. The sample of the study was a group consisting of 80 6th grade middle school students, one experimental (n = 40) and one control (n = 40) group. In the control group, the force and motion unit based on the curriculum of the science education program (FBÖP) was conducted as is, while in the experimental group, the force and motion unit was carried out with the activities supported by GEMS. In order to determine the levels of students basic scientific process skills and attitudes, scientific process skills scale for force and movement ”(BSBT) and attitude scale for science course” (TÖ) were applied to both groups as a pre-test. At the end of the study, the same scales were re-applied to both experimental and control groups as a post-test. In order to obtain qualitative data from the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 students in the experimental group for the activities of the last week of the study. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed with the help of SPSS 22 package program. The data obtained from the interview was evaluated by content analysis. When the BSBT post-test scores of the experimental and control group students were compared according to the results obtained from the data collection tools, it was clear that the scientific process skills levels of the experimental group students improved more. According to TÖ results; When the post- test attitude scores of the experimental and control groups were examined after the application, the attitudes of the experimental group students towards the activities done in the science course were more positive in the 1-month period from the pre-test to the last test thanks to the GEMS activities. In the results obtained from the interview with the students in the experimental group, it is seen that they reported having achieved many gains in terms of knowledge and general skills by having fun, living, observing.
