Sosyal Bilgiler Ders Kitaplarında Güncel Olayların Kullanımı

Abstract

Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde güncel olayların öğretimi; derse ek öğretim, ders kitabını tamamlayıcı veya pekiştirici öğretim ve ders kitabında öğrenme alanı temeli öğretim olmak üzere üç farklı yaklaşımla yapılabilir. Belirtilmiş öğretim yollarından ders kitabında öğrenme alanına eklenmiş olarak öğretilmesi en çok tercih edilen yoldur. Bu araştırmada güncel olayların ortaokul Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitaplarında kullanımının incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Nitel bir araştırma yöntemi olan doküman inceleme metodu ile ortaokul sosyal bilgiler ders kitapları incelenmiştir. Araştırma veri kaynağı seçkisi olarak 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında kullanılmış beşinci, altıncı ve yedinci sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitapları tercih edilmiştir. Seçkide üç adet beşinci sınıf, iki adet altıncı sınıf ve üç adet yedinci sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler ders kitabı bulunmaktadır. Bu kaynaklar Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı (MEB) tarafından ders kitabı olarak kabul görüp, güncel olarak kullanıldığından seçilmiştir. Ders kitaplarında yer alan güncel olaylar sınıf, öğrenme alanı ve konu temelli sınıflandırılarak tablolar halinde analiz amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Analiz sonucunda güncel olayların sınıf, öğrenme alanı ve konu dağılımının eşit olmadığı ayrıca öğrenme alanlarından bazılarında ise güncel olay kullanımına yer verilmediği tespit edilmiştir. Analizi yapılmış ders kitaplarında güncel olay kaynağı olarak %66,36’lık oranla en fazla genel ağ haberine, %3,43’lük oranla en az dergi haberine yer verilmiştir. Ders kitaplarının bazılarında kullanım süresi beş yıl olarak belirtilmişken bazılarında ise kullanım süresi belirtilmemiştir. Bu durum bazı güncel haberlerin kitapların kullanım sürecinde güncelliklerini yitirmesi anlamı taşımaktadır. Bundan dolayı ders kitaplarının özellikle güncel olay kaynakları açışından her yıl güncellenerek yeniden basılması önerilmiştir.

The teaching of current events in the Social Studies course can be done with three different approaches: supplementary teaching, complementary or reinforcement teaching in the course book, and teaching the learning area in the course book. It is the most preferred way to be taught by adding it to the learning area in the textbook among the specified teaching paths. In this research, it is aimed to examine the use of current events in secondary school Social Studies textbooks. Secondary school textbooks were examined with the document analysis method, which is a qualitative research method. As the research data source selection, the fifth, sixth and seventh grade Social Studies textbooks used in the 2020-2021 academic year were preferred. There are three fifth grade, two sixth grade and three seventh grade Social Studies textbooks in the selection. These textbooks have been chosen as they are accepted as textbooks by the Ministry of National Education and are used up-to-date. Current events in the textbooks have been prepared for analysis in tables by classifying them on the basis of class, learning area and subject. As a result of the analysis, it has been determined that the class, learning area and subject distribution of current events are not equal, and current events are not used in some of the learning areas. In the analyzed textbooks, the most general network news with 66.36% and the least magazine news with 3.43% were included as current events source. In some of the textbooks, the term of use is specified as five years, while in some of them the term of use is not specified. This means that some current news are out of date during the use of the books. For this reason, it has been suggested that the textbooks should be updated and reprinted every year, especially in terms of current events sources.
