Abstract: Çocuğa gerçek yaşamdan kesitler sunan, onun belirli durumlar karşısında tutum geliştirmesini sağlayan ve düş dünyasını devindiren tür olan öykü; çocuk edebiyatında önemli bir yere sahiptir.
The story which is a genre that offers real-life sections to children, enables them to develop attitudes towards certain situations and moves their outside world, has an important place in children's literature. The stories offer chidren sections from real life. Children can observe themselves, life, human and nature through new situations in the story. Sevim Ak is a writer who carefully places what belongs to the real world into fiction and makes the child feel the situations that can be experienced. She has come to prominence in children's literature mostly with her novels and stories. She is a writer who is also fondly read by children. Therefore, it is thought that the author's works should be examined, evaluated and introduced. In this context, examining the children characters in Sevim AK's stories in terms of being developed-under developed, mobility-stasis, character development and character characteristics is aimed in the study. For this purpose, one hundred and one stories were examined in the author's twelve story books. In the research, descriptive analysis method was used and the data was supported by examples. As a result of the study, it was observed that the children characters in the stories mostly have positive character traits such as curious, imaginetive, excited, cheerful, hopeful, helpful, creative. The negative character traits such as selfish, highbrow, spoiled, touchy are given over the supporting child characters. As a result of the study, the main children characters in the stories are developed and dynamic characters introduced with all their features. On the other hand, it was observed that supporting child characters are usually under developed and stable charecters. As an other result of the study, it was found that the characters were developed in more than one way, while they were developed through speech at most. At the end of the study, the child characters featured in the stories are considered to be child-related and appropriate to child reality. For this reason, it is accepted that the works of Sevim AK, who sees and accepts the child as an individual, should be taught more.
