Abstract: This study reports that the annual amounts and diversity of the species, marketing in Istanbul wholesale fish market between 1998 and 2007. However, the results compared with both old reports (1909-1923 and 1996-1997) of Istanbul and the other great fish markets, such as Izmir and Canakkale. More than 93 species were recorded in the market. The greatest amounts of fish species in Istanbul fish market were anchovy (43.5%), horse-mackerel (17%), bonito (11.4%), bluefish (9%), cultured seabream-sea bass (3.7%), whiting (3.3%) and sardine (1,5%), respectively. The mean sell amount between 1998 and 2007 was found as 33678 mt +/- 2458.
