The Ottomans ongoing dominance on Eastern Mediterranean in the XVI. century, had been strongly related to gaining the control of Indian sea. For this purpose, Eastern Mediterranean policy of the Ottoman Empire at the time of Selim I, shifted her direction to Southeast Asia. By this, she expanded her naval influence beyond Mediterranean sea and the expansion also effected trade between Red Sea and Mediterranean. In this study, we'll try to reveal how the Levant trade shaped and how did it changed and how did those changes effected Ottoman State and other Mediterranean states by focusing Selim I's South policy.en_US
