Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the interrelationships among hazelnut production and yield with climatic data in Giresun province (Northern Turkey), the Eastern Black Sea Region. Climatic data of ten years between 1993 and 2002 were used. To have correct results only data for the production and climate of the same location - City Center and its villages, were obtained. The climatic data such as air temperature, humidity, wind speed, rainfall, rainy days, foggy days and clear days, important for hazelnut production, were used. The coefficients of correlation and path coefficients were calculated for production, yield and climatic data. As a result of this study, from the point of annual average values, a positive correlation between air temperature with production and yield was established. Temperatures in January and August, and wind speed in November affected the production and yield, positively.
